PRESIDENT'S DESK

Message from the President

Dr. Mohan I. Patel
“Service to Society through Education and Empowerment”

From the President’s Desk 2025, I have had the good fortune to be associated with the JanSeva Samiti since its inception. The Samiti began its journey in 1968 with the motto of 'Service to Society'. When the JSS undertook the journey of women empowerment, we had hoped that one day the college would be a premier women’s education epicenter in the area.

I am happy to witness the dream we saw more than five decades ago getting realized. The college empowers hundreds of girl students who otherwise cannot afford higher education, many of whom are first-generation learners and face severe financial constraints. Despite such challenges, the students take up courses that are game-changers in their lives and many have become the breadwinners of their families.

My colleague, Dr. Ranjan Maniar has been giving unremitting contribution to the college. Being in the noblest of all occupations – a doctor, she has given her unstinted support in medical emergencies and arrangement of camps in college for the last fifty years. She has always given free of cost medical services, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, not only to students but also to staff members.

As the college offers education to the economically disadvantaged, the college needs funds to operate, and Ranjanben has been instrumental in getting significant donations to the institution. Major initiatives in recent years have been undertaken in the areas of IT and infrastructure development, including the establishment of an Open Gurukul in a 3000 sq. ft. area and the implementation of the Arambh Scheme for students coming from challenging backgrounds.

The college is recognized under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan scheme facilitated by the Central Government, under which five villages in Palghar district have been adopted. To support Skill India’s flagship mission, a wide range of NSQF-based certificate courses have also been introduced, creating employability opportunities for students both during and after their studies.

It is with the support of members, well-wishers and stakeholders that the Samiti continues to progress and make a meaningful difference in society through education, empowerment and service.
